Development of a Versatile Strategy for Inkjet-Printed Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Microarrays

Biochips are composed of arrays micropatterns enabling the optical detection target analytes. Inkjet printing, complementary to commercially available micro- and nanospotters, is a contactless versatile micropatterning method. Surprisingly, inkjet printing molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), also known as biomimetic synthetic antibodies, has not been demonstrated yet. In this work, core–shell structures proposed through combination core (top-down approach) controlled radical polymerization (CRP) decorate with thin film MIP (bottom-up approach). The resulting biochips show quantitative, specific, selective antibiotic drug enrofloxacin by means fluorescence analysis.
